Funny Levi

Anytime we say "Who wants ...", and Levi wants it, Levi's response is to throw his hand up in the air. We're having a lot of fun with it-he's such a funny kid! Some of his favorite things that are sure to get him to raise his hand excitedly are brushing his teeth, eating chocolate, going outside to play, or eating a snack.

For the past week or so, we have been working with Addie on memorizing Colossians 3:20. She learned it faster than I expected! Now, I think it's time to start on a new one!

Camping

I have started doing "preschool" with Addie a couple of days a week. I am using a website recommended to me by several people to come up with themes and activities to go along with them. For anyone interested, it is hubbardscupboard.org. You can't beat free for a Christian 2-year-old preschool curriculum.

First, I made a tent out of our kitchen table. Addie was scared of it and refused to get anywhere near it until she saw how much Levi was enjoying it. Good thing she has a younger brother to take her fears away.

The theme we did the past 2 weeks was camping. So, we read lots of books about camping, then made these sweet binoculars:

Next, we used play dough to make a campfire (minus the actual fire):

On Saturday, Bob and I created a little campsite in our backyard. Both kids had a blast...their parents did as well!

We built a tent, kept a fire going, read campfire stories, and sang lots of songs.

Addie loved sitting by the fire:

Levi can't sit still, but he had a good time going from one thing to the next.

We read some books about camping while in our tent:

Then, cooked hotdogs and s'mores using the fire. We took advantage of the fact we were in our backyard and ate in the non-fly-infested screened in porch.

Levi was loving the s'mores...to be expected.

Same with Addie.

NC Mountain State Fair

If you have been reading our blog for a while, you may remember that we went to the local fair last year and had a great time. Just for old times sake, here's a picture from our fun there last year:

I headed back with both kids this past week, thinking it would be even more fun this year for a couple of reasons...Addie was older and would enjoy it more and Levi was old enough to have some fun as well! Thankfully, I was right and we all had a great time. I'm sure we'll be back again next year!

Here is Addie with some chickens:

This was one of my favorite parts. They had a "mooternity ward" where there were lots of pregnant cows. On the afternoon we were there, it just so happened that this cow had given birth about an hour earlier. So, the calf you see in this picture is an hour old. That was pretty amazing. She kept falling down and the mother would help her up and lick her. Addie was very intrigued as well.

More time with the cow and her new calf:

I let Levi out of the stroller a little (not the easiest thing to keep up with a double stroller as well as two running toddlers) so he could actually see some animals. He loved them. If he could've got into their cages, I'm sure he would've enjoyed that more, but he was happy to see them!

Levi and a rooster:

The rabbits:

Ready for the pig racing:

Levi cheering for the pigs/trying to get to them (do not be deceived by this picture...Levi has no belly. I have no idea how he is able to stick out his mid-section like that when there is barely anything there. Those were size 3-6 month shorts he was wearing-some of the only ones he can keep on):

We found the circus this year, which was a big hit! The fair is surprisingly large and I did not even know there was a circus there last year (assuming that there was). However, we went to it this year and it was a huge hit for both kids. This is Addie, waiting for the show to start:

This was one of my favorite moments at the fair. I sat Levi on my left and Addie on my right at the circus. There was a little girl that was probably 5 or 6 years old sitting next to Levi. Soon after I sat Levi next to me, he reached out his hand and grabbed the little girl's hand while he stared at her and smiled. At one point during the show, the girl went to grab something with her hand, so she had to let go of Levi's hand. He immediately went to get her hand back. It was so cute. He is such a sweet boy, even if he is wild and crazy too.

Addie clapped pretty much the entire time we were at the circus. If you have ever been to a circus, you probably know that there are lots of different acts and people tend to cheer and clap after most tricks that are done. Addie, however, was so into it (and was loving it so much) that she just did a continuous clap the entire time. She was so pumped, I guess she couldn't stop cheering.

Levi liked to clap too once he had both hands free!

My attempt at proving who brought the kids to the fair.

A big "beef cow"

The baby chicks and ducklings:

Levi stood and stared at the ducklings and chicks for probably a full five minutes. That may have been the longest he's ever stood in one place at a time. So, I think it's safe to say he liked them.

I think most of the time when people think of fair's, they think of riding rides and eating fried food. For our kids, though, it is all about the animals. We had a blast-can't wait for the NC Mountain State Fair 2012!

Litchfield Beach

Blogger seems to want to save my post every minute right now, making it take FOREVER to do anything with my blog most. So, since I've got the pictures uploaded, this post will mostly just be pictures. Basically, we went to Litchfield for a long weekend over Labor Day. It was the first time just the 4 of us went on a vacation together and it was awesome. We would recommend the place we stayed at to anyone and everyone-whether you have kids or not. The price is great and so was everything we experienced at the resort. For anyone interested, the place is called "Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort" and it is located about 30 miles south of Myrtle Beach (if you look are rates on their website, be sure to click on "specials" on the sidebar as that is how you get way better deals). This was our 3rd time to go and I think we'll be going back for many more vacations! Here are a bunch of pics in no particular order:
