Father's Day

We had a fun time celebrating Father's Day last Sunday.  We had a campfire the night before where we cooked out dinner over the fire (hot dogs), then had s'mores.  And, got a pic of Daddy with the kiddos!
On Sunday morning, we brought breakfast to Daddy in bed as well as his cards and gift.
Sunday afternoon, Daddy wanted to try fishing in the pond across from our house for the first time.  The kids and myself came to cheer him on, and had fun watching him.  He had great success....caught 5 different fish in about 30 minutes!
The kids were supposedly feeding the fish some stale bread we had, but I think they actually ate most of it.

Quick potty training update: I started potty training with Levi on Tuesday of last week.  The first couple of days were rough and I was wondering if he was really capable of potty training, or if I had jumped the gun.  However, I was committed through the weekend, which I am so glad I was now!  On Friday, Levi didn't have any accidents!  Since last Friday (a week ago) he has had 2 accidents-one of which I take the fault for.  That includes going to church-we took him to his class in pull-ups so his teachers wouldn't have to deal with clean-up, buy he kept his pull-up dry and peed in the potty while in class 3 different times.  He doesn't fully have the poop thing down yet-mostly he just poops in his diaper at nap time (he wears a diapers whenever he sleeps) or doesn't poop at all.  But, we are so proud of our Levi.  He's such a big boy now!

Hiking with friends

It has been a little while since I last posted a hike we went on.  A few weekends ago, we went hiking with friends-a first for us.  It was different than when we have gone just as a family, but we all had a blast.  Hopefully there will be more hikes with friends in the future!

All the dads with most of the kids
 Daddy and Levi
The girls: Addie, Addisyn, and Summer
Levi was MUCH more difficult on this hike than in the past.  He did not want to stay in the backpack-he just wanted to play in the water!  Unfortunately, it was cold outside and the water was not safe for him to play in.  We'll have to keep him in mind when we plan our next hike.
The girls wanted to hold hands as they hiked

New beds!

Last weekend, our neighborhood had a yard sale.  Although we did not plan to buy any major items, we ended up buying a new bed for Addie!  The price was right and we figured although she still had a couple of years where she would still fit in the toddler bed, she could go ahead and transition into a twin bed.  Addie was (and still is) SO excited about this bed.  As you can see, it is more than a bed:it has bookshelves and a cabinet that we use as her dresser now.  So, we moved quite a bit of furniture around this weekend...
We decided to try Levi out in Addie's toddler bed.  We kept the crib up since we didn't know what he would do.  But, he slept great the first night without ever getting out of bed before it was morning.  The following day, he tried getting up when it was time to nap, but Daddy put the fear in him and he hasn't left his bed since then...even when he's finished sleeping!  Who knew he would be so obedient for Daddy?  So, now the crib has been taken apart and put in storage.  I'm a little sad that we no longer have a baby in the house.
And in the spirit of growing up, I decided to start the potty training process with Levi today.  So far, he has used 6 pairs of underwear and made it to the potty once.  He's napping now-we'll see what the rest of the day holds.

Addie's future

Addie has been talking about her future for quite some time now (at least a year).  However, it seems that going to the wedding last weekend has really caused her to think and talk about her own wedding, husband, and future family.  She literally has talked about these things every day since the wedding last weekend.  It's amazing how a 3-year-old girl can be so eager to get married and live with her husband!  We took a video to try to get some of her plans on camera.  She's a little camera shy, but I think you can get an idea of the things she has been thinking about recently.  Click on the link below to watch:

Nate and Kat's wedding

Last weekend, we were in Charlotte for Nate and Kat's wedding.  We had a great time with family and hope to be able to see everyone again soon!  Be warned...there are tons of pictures in this post!

Addie and Olivia matching at the rehearsal dinner
Levi and Aunt Amy playing together-funny how she is making him look so heavy here!
Sitting after playing "ring around the rosie" (Addie, Vera, and Olivia)
The happy couple
Levi loves to give fist bumps!
Levi loves Poppi (or as he says, "paw paw)
Since there was an entire day between the rehearsal dinner and the actual wedding, we took all the cousins to the Charlotte Nature museum.  While it wasn't a huge hit for my kids since they were scared of most of the animals there, I would highly recommend it to anyone with kids in the Charlotte area.  It's a cool place!  Here is Levi with a bug head.
Addie the bug
Levi got a lot of Nana time in over the weekend.  Anytime he went running from me, it was to Nana.
All the cousins having a snack (left to right: Eden, Levi, Vera, Tobey, Logan, Olivia, Addie, Kai)
The big kids had been jumping off this rock.  Of course, Levi would not allow us to leave him out of the fun!
Ready for the wedding!
I know I am biased, but they are so cute!
Our sweet Addie-so excited for the wedding...something she had been looking forward to for almost a year!

Addie was a dancing machine-she was the hug-dancer.  She would run around the dance floor hugging each of her cousins over and over.

Poppi breaking it down with the girls
Levi once again with Nana
Girl dance time!
Vera made sure that she and Uncle Bob got their slow dancing time in together.
We also headed to a park the day after the wedding to hang out together and have some fun!
Addie got to sleep in a king size bed all by herself for the weekend.  Had to take a picture of that!
